Language courses in Spain

Our school has been teaching intensive language courses in Spain since 1986. With more than 35 years of language teaching experience, we have developed a unique method, which integrates theory with practice.  In other words, we teach language always in context, in and outside the classroom. Most importantly, we encourage students to participate in the everyday life of our seaside town. Welcome to O Grove on the Spanish Atlantic Coast.

In class, we use a variety of materials. For example, textbooks, a variety of games, and our own materials prepared for each level of classes.

Our teaching experience shows that immersion is the best way to learn a foreign language. In other words, we want our students communicating as much as possible in their chosen language. This implies going outside of the traditional classroom sometimes. As a result, we have carefully structured all our courses around this idea.

We will show you how to have a great time in O Grove. Not only that, we encourage our students to seek their own adventures by showing the different possibilities for putting their language skills to practical use.

Our main objective with our intensive language courses is that students expand their communicative competencies. They will learn to use their chosen in different situations in everyday, personal, and professional settings. Consequently, at all levels, teachers always give priority to practical conversation.

The small size of the groups allows for a relaxed and personalized environment. Consequently, this strengthens the communicative orientation of our intensive language courses in Spain.

At the end of the language course each student will receive a certificate of attendance. It specifies the level of the course, its intensity and its duration.

Spanish and Galician Culture

Students in the market

For our students studying Spanish, we offer a range of experiences outside the classroom. A minimum of 5 hours of the course are dedicated to the culture of Spain and the region of Galicia. Consequently, our students explore the differences between Spain and Galicia. You will learn about what makes Galicia special.

Some of the classes are conducted completely outside the classroom. For example in the fresh fish market or the port. Other lessons take our students on historical tours of O Grove in Spanish to explain and show the magic of this seaside town.

In short, the main idea behind these activities is to give the student the closest possible contact with O Grove. That is to say with how people in O Grove live, and combine this with learning Spanish.

The levels

On the registration form, please indicate the approximate level of your Spanish knowledge. This will help us place you in an appropriate group – although the most important step is for you to take the placement test once you arrive in O Grove.

As a general rule in our school, there are no problems to change levels later. If you think you are between two levels (in Spanish or any of the languages we offer), indicate it by marking the two closest levels (eg: A-1 / A-2, A-2 / B-1, B-1 / B-2, B-2 / C-1) on the registration form. The levels and their contents correspond to the European reference framework for languages.
